He heads the<strong> laboratory of Pathophysiology and Imaging of Neurological Disorders<\/strong> (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.phind.fr\/index.php\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PhIND<\/a>,<\/strong> UMR-S U1237, INSERM\/EFS\/Univ. Caen-Normandie). He has played a key role in understanding the function of serine proteases in regulating the molecular and cellular events that occur during ischemic stroke.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2005, he discovered the influence of serine proteases on NMDA glutamatergic signaling and neurotoxicity. His research projects now focus on the role of serine proteases in maintaining neurovascular unit homeostasis. With the aim of getting ever closer to human pathology, he is committed to <strong>developing preclinical translational models as well as innovative tools for diagnostic and therapeutic applications<\/strong>. Denis Vivien is the 2023 recipient of the <strong>Dani\u00e8le Hermann Prize<\/strong>, awarded unanimously by the jury of the Fondation Recherche Cardio-Vasculaire \u2013 Institut de France.
