{"id":32108,"date":"2020-11-10T13:16:14","date_gmt":"2020-11-10T13:16:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.etap-lab.com\/?p=12108"},"modified":"2026-04-17T18:15:00","modified_gmt":"2026-04-17T16:15:00","slug":"our-tau-oligomer-toxicity-a-new-tool-for-drug-screening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.etap-lab.com\/en\/science-and-innovation\/our-tau-oligomer-toxicity-a-new-tool-for-drug-screening\/","title":{"rendered":"Our tau oligomer toxicity &#8211; a new tool for drug screening"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The toxicity of the tau oligomers produced by ETAP-Lab can be reversed by using BDNF on primary rat neuron cultures.<\/p>\n<p>BNDF applied at the same time as tau oligomers significantly and reproducibly reduced cell mortality.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-12109\" src=\"https:\/\/www.etap-lab.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/graph-TauO.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"530\" height=\"358\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Incubation of cortical neurons with Tau monomers, TauO and TauO+BDNF<\/strong>.\u00a0<strong>TauO\u00a0<\/strong>decreased quite significantly cell viability (*; p&lt;0.01), while\u00a0<strong>monomers<\/strong>\u00a0showed no neurotoxic effect.\u00a0<strong>Incubation with BDNF<\/strong> significantly\u00a0reversed TauO-induced neurotoxicity (#; p&lt;0.01). Data are expressed as percent of vehicle (set at 100%) and represent the mean\u2009\u00b1\u2009SD. (N=3, n=12).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This tauopathy model is now available for the screening of your compounds.
