Since it was founded in 1991, ETAP (which stands for “EThologie APpliquée” or “Applied Ethology” in English) has developed unrivaled expertise and specialist technological platforms, while drawing on the knowledge of its scientific experts, to become a leading preclinical CRO in Europe in the fields of neurology, neurovascular disease, dermatology, and cardiovascular disease.
Below is a summary of the company’s history since its foundation
Foundation of ETAP-LAB in Nancy
Spin-off of the Laboratory of Biology and Behavioral Physiology at UHP Nancy – Psychopharmacology and Neurology Services.
Diversification into the Nutraceutical market
Provision of services centered around the evaluation of functional foods and ingredients (brain health and metabolism).
Creation of the Dermatology department
Provision of preclinical dermatology services for the evaluation of drugs and medical devices.
Creation of the Neurovascular department
Validation and marketing of the first stroke models in Nancy.
Establishment of the current management team
Following the departure of the founding director, ETAP-LAB was taken over by three employees with one goal: to become a leading CRO in its fields of expertise.
Creation of STROK@lliance in Caen
Partnership with the PhIND laboratory (UMR-1237, INSERM-UniCaen) led by Prof. Denis Vivien and creation of a secondary establishment in Caen to develop the neurovascular department.
Creation of the cell culture laboratory in Nancy
Upstream diversification to provide an integrated range of services from cell culture to animals in neurology.
Winner of the BIO-DIAMOND project (France 2030 national plan)
Investment in new approach methodologies (NAMs) and alternative methods with the creation and industrialization of neurology models in organs-on-chips.
Creation of the immunohistology and biological analysis laboratory
Enhancement of our integrated range of services and increased control of processes with an internal biological analysis service.
Integration of the Cardiovascular business
Acquisition of the Marseille-based CRO Syncrosome to complement ETAP-LAB’s preclinical offering, bringing 25 years of expertise in preclinical cardiology and pharmacology.
Inauguration of a new preclinical research building in Caen
Increase in production capacity at the Caen site and further strengthening of the partnership with UniCaen.
Complete redesign of the ETAP-LAB identity
Creation of new service brands to embody and promote ETAP-LAB’s preclinical areas of expertise: BRAINXPLORE, SKINAXIS, STROK@LLIANCE and SYNCROSOME.
